My research investigates how music and digital storytelling within archaeological practice can reshape conservation and heritage management. By incorporating perspectives from Scotland and Aotearoa New Zealand, I critically examine the colonial and patriarchal narratives underlying many conservation practices, which often romanticise wilderness. Through soundscapes and music, I highlight the emotional and sensory dimensions of archaeological landscapes, fostering a deeper sense of interconnectedness and reconnection with the environment. This approach challenges conventional boundaries in archaeology and encourages the use of creative practice within conservation management, fostering stronger connections between communities, heritage, and the environment in the context of climate change.
