About Harriet’s Research:
Design for Policy seeks to develop inclusive, equitable, and participatory forms of decision-making that can lead to meaningful opportunities and outcomes for people and communities. Building on the growth of policy labs, user-centred innovation in government, and creative modes of democratic innovation within the UK, Europe, and internationally, this research presents a compelling and timely opportunity to capture current practices and understand how design methods and practices can enhance local democracy in Scotland. Working in partnership with the Scottish Government, it will investigate how Design for Policy is framed and applied within Scotland’s devolved governance structures and make recommendations for adapting and embedding these within Scotland’s diverse social and cultural landscape.
