About David’s Research:

This practice-based PhD aims to explore the complex artistic and logistical challenges of and solutions to work in this emerging film and television environment. The exploration will synthesise game engine knowledge, film production pipelines (both digital & physical), VFX, optimisation, tools development, art, and animation pipelines.

Research problem: Working in the new Virtual Production environment has various challenges, none more so than the meeting of minds of filmmakers and practitioners from very different backgrounds and skill sets, all on one virtual soundstage.

This PhD looks to establish effective production pipeline practices, including emerging technologies, and guidelines to alleviate potential delays or conflicts on a Virtual Production shoot.
